Budget conscious? There are many ways to save money on your wedding. Here are some of my favorite top tips to have your dream wedding at an affordable price.
Keep your ceremony flowers.
Bring them to the reception where they can do double duty as center pieces.
After the event, donate your flowers to a hospital or nursing home.
It's a thoughtful thing to do and also a tax deduction.
Skip the big meal.
Instead of dinner consider having a cocktail reception, serve Champagne and desserts, or have a wine-tasting reception!
Use fresh flowers on your cake.
Sugarpaste blooms on a cake are more expensive than the real thing and the fresh flowers will look beautiful.
Choose a small cake for show.
Order a sheet cake that can be cut ahead of time and kept out of sight. Only your wallet will know the difference!
Assemble it yourself.
Create and put together your own save-the-dates, invitations, programs, place cards and other printed matter.
Let your iPod be your DJ.
Just program all the music you want to hear onto an iPod playlist or MP3 player, rent a sound system, and ask a friend (or a dj who's just starting out) to oversee the music.
Flexible? Events on Fridays and Sundays are generally less expensive than Saturdays. Brunches and lunches are usually more affordable as well.
